Based on the operating characteristics of thermal seawater desalination units, we synthesized a terpolymer antiscalant containing carboxyl and sulfonic acid groups, and tested its temperature resistance. In accordance with relevant standards, the scale inhibition performance of the agent was evaluated using Bohai Bay seawater, and the effect of the copolymer on the crystal morphology of scale samples was analyzed by SEM.

Reverse osmosis (RO) is widely used for its stable and efficient desalination capacity, and its performance directly affects the stable operation of subsequent water-using equipment. However, membrane fouling often occurs during the daily operation of the system, leading to reduced water production, increased energy consumption, frequent cleaning, and shortened service life of membrane elements. Therefore, identifying the causes of membrane fouling and formulating reasonable cleaning methods are of great significance for maintaining the stable operation of RO systems.

During the long-term operation of production units, water coolers are prone to process material leakage, which affects the normal operation of the unit and may even force the system to shut down, resulting in significant economic losses. Water coolers prone to material leakage are usually made of carbon steel, mainly due to corrosion and perforation of the heat exchange wall, causing leakage from the high-pressure area to the low-pressure area between the process side and the circulating water side. Given the significant impact of leakage on the circulating water system and production units, this article summarizes and analyzes the causes, hazards, detection methods, and post-leakage treatment measures of leakage.
